This course is designed for Realtors who are planning to become Real Estate Brokers. Attendees will learn of Iowa Real Estate license law and how to avoid violation of said law. Attendees will be educated on the various broker responsibilities and Iowa Laws guiding those requirements. Various Federal Laws affecting real estate will be discussed.

Jorge Gomez, Jr.
Jorge Gomez, Jr. was born and raised in Bettendorf, Iowa. In 1975 he graduated from the University Of Iowa College Of Law. Upon graduation Jorge became the founding member and senior partner in the law firm of Gomez May LLP and has been in practice for more than 39 years. The Law firm of Gomez May LLP has offices located in both Davenport, Iowa and Moline, Illinois. Jorge is also the founding partner and part owner of Gomez Title and Closing Company LLC, located in Moline, Illinois, which provides settlement and closing services as well as title insurance for Illinois closings. Jorge is an approved abstractor for the state of Iowa and established Abstracting Services. This company mainly serves Scott County. Jorge is a member of both the State of Iowa and Scott County Iowa bar associations. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Iowa and in the U. S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa and has served as a Bar Examiner for the Iowa State. He has also been a presenter on many occasions for the State of Iowa Continuing Legal Education Program.

Jorge’s law practice emphasizes in the area of real estate and banking law. He has personally completed over 20,000 real estate closings and transactions of both residential and commercial properties. His experience in this field makes him a highly sought after real estate continuing education instructor. He brings hands on knowledge to the classroom to inform agents of the rights and wrongs and the many pit falls they can and should avoid.

IAR reserves the right to cancel any class for any reason; including but not limited to insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, and closings due to severe weather. Please remember that cancellations or closings should be rare events. In the event of cancellation, registered participants will have the option of a full refund, full credit, or a reserved seat in the next available class at no additional cost.

CANCELLATION by a student, if requested no later than two full days before scheduled course date, will qualify for a full refund. If class cancellation is requested any later than 48 hours prior to class, the refund will be less a $25.00 cancellation fee. Members may log in to the My Account section of our website to cancel a class and receive the appropriate refund. NO SHOWS will be charged the full amount of the course.

Students may RESCHEDULE at no additional cost to attend any future class that is conducted within 90 days of original course date. Requests must be made no later than 72 hours before originally scheduled course time. NO SHOWS will be charged the full amount of the course. If they choose to reschedule they must pay the full price of the course again.

LATE ARRIVALS: In accordance with the Real Estate Commission's Administrative rules, successful completion of continuing education requires full–time attendance throughout the program, course or activity. A student who arrives late, leaves during class or leaves early shall not receive a certificate and such circumstance will be treated as a no-show and no refund will be granted.
