Justin Hayes
Justin Hayes is an experienced real estate attorney and legal executive, currently serving as Head Counsel for Iowa REALTORS®. In this role, Justin provides legal guidance on real estate law, contracts, regulatory compliance, and risk management, supporting REALTORS® and the association on complex legal and policy matters across the state.

Previously, Justin was an Associate Attorney with Wasker, Dorr, Wimmer, and Marcouiller, P.C. in West Des Moines, Iowa, where his practice focused on real estate transactions and contract analysis. He drafted and reviewed purchase and lease agreements, advised clients on negotiations and transactional processes, and analyzed a wide range of legal documents including easements, conveyance instruments, installment contracts, and other real estate-related agreements, with a focus on anticipating and limiting contractual risk.

Justin’s background also includes service as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Polk County District Court, where he drafted preliminary and final judicial orders, conducted statutory and case law research, reviewed trial records and filings, and supported trial proceedings. Prior to his legal career, Justin worked as an Escrow Closer with Midland Title & Escrow, where he closed thousands of residential real estate transactions, advised agents on transaction strategy, and ensured compliance with applicable statutes and regulations—experience that continues to inform his practical, business-oriented legal approach.

Justin earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law and holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Iowa. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Iowa.
