Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing helps real estate professionals interrupt stereotypical thinking so they can avoid fair housing pitfalls and provide equal professional service to every customer or client. Participants will examine the history of bias in real estate, learn about the mind science of identity, study how implicit bias can result in fair housing violations, and engage in interactive exercises to enhance communication skills and business relationships with clients of all backgrounds.

Camera & Microphone required in order to receive class credit. Zoom participants must be seated with camera on as if you were attending in person.

Nate Johnson
Nate K. Johnson is the President of Real Estate Solutions, a full service commercial & residential real estate brokerage with a commitment to helping clients achieve their real estate goals. Nate also serves in an Agent Development role for Redkey Realty Leaders, which is the largest independent real estate brokerage in St. Louis. In addition to representing buyers and sellers in real estate transactions, Nate manages a sales staff while overseeing the daily operations of Real Estate Solutions. Nate is the 2021 Chairman of the Sustainability Advisory Group for the National Association of REALTORS and served as the 2018 President of the Missouri Association of REALTORS, and the 2011 President of the St. Louis Association of REALTORS. Nate currently serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan St. Louis Equal Housing Opportunity Council, which is the only nonā€profit fair housing enforcement agency working to end illegal housing discrimination in St. Louis. Nate speaks to groups all over the country about Fair Housing, Diversity & Inclusion as well as Smart Growth & Sustainability. Nate instructs a variety of courses relating to these topics and more, including the REALTOR Code of Ethics, Business Development, & Leadership. Nate has a passion for helping people achieve their real estate goals. He believes that education is the best way to ensure that they are prepared to make good real estate decisions.

IAR reserves the right to cancel any class for any reason; including but not limited to insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, and closings due to severe weather. Please remember that cancellations or closings should be rare events. In the event of cancellation, registered participants will have the option of a full refund, full credit, or a reserved seat in the next available class at no additional cost.

CANCELLATION by a student, if requested no later than two full days before scheduled course date, will qualify for a full refund. If class cancellation is requested any later than 48 hours prior to class, the refund will be less a $25.00 cancellation fee. Members may log in to the My Account section of our website to cancel a class and receive the appropriate refund. NO SHOWS will be charged the full amount of the course.

Students may RESCHEDULE at no additional cost to attend any future class that is conducted within 90 days of original course date. Requests must be made no later than 72 hours before originally scheduled course time. NO SHOWS will be charged the full amount of the course. If they choose to reschedule they must pay the full price of the course again.

LATE ARRIVALS: In accordance with the Real Estate Commission's Administrative rules, successful completion of continuing education requires full time attendance throughout the program, course or activity. A student who arrives late, leaves during class or leaves early shall not receive a certificate and such circumstance will be treated as a no-show and no refund will be granted.
