It's no secret that tax reform is a hot button topic. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) enacted in December of 2017 is a maze of information.  The IRS has made resources available for small business owners and self employed individuals to help them understand and meet their tax obligations but why not hear it from an expert. Gary Peters will share his insights on the history and impact of this law as well as dive into topics regarding individual & business provisions, estate & gift taxes, and tax extenders as it affects Realtors and land owners.

Peters, Gary
Gary graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Business Administration in 1976 and started his career with Deloitte & Touche, a Big Four accounting firm in Omaha, Nebraska. He moved to Spencer and joined Winther, Stave & Co., LLP in 1978 as a staff accountant.

Gary became a partner in 1984 and is now the Firm’s senior partner and has been the partner in charge of the Tax Department since 1984. His specialties within the Firm include the preparation of, planning for, and consultations related to business, individual, and fiduciary taxes, retirement planning, assistance in acquiring and selling businesses, mergers and acquisitions, wealth accumulation planning, and general client business consultations. He has assisted in the negotiation and structure in over $450 million of asset and stock purchases and sales for his clients. He is also responsible for the Firm’s monthly continuing professional education programs.

Gary has made numerous public speaking presentations for statewide and regional organizations as well as smaller public speaking engagements on various business and tax topics.

Gary was born and raised in Nebraska and is still an avid Cornhusker fan and enjoys involvement in family and church activities, golf, and spectator sports.

IAR reserves the right to cancel any class for any reason; including but not limited to insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, and closings due to severe weather. Please remember that cancellations or closings should be rare events. In the event of cancellation, registered participants will have the option of a full refund, full credit, or a reserved seat in the next available class at no additional cost.

CANCELLATION by a student, if requested no later than two full days before scheduled course date, will qualify for a full refund. If class cancellation is requested any later than 48 hours prior to class, the refund will be less a $25.00 cancellation fee. Members may log in to the My Account section of our website to cancel a class and receive the appropriate refund. NO SHOWS will be charged the full amount of the course.

Students may
RESCHEDULE at no additional cost to attend any future class that is conducted within 90 days of original course date. Requests must be made no later than 72 hours before originally scheduled course time. NO SHOWS will be charged the full amount of the course. If they choose to reschedule they must pay the full price of the course again.

LATE ARRIVALS
: In accordance with the Real Estate Commission's Administrative rules, successful completion of continuing education requires full–time attendance throughout the program, course or activity. A student who arrives late, leaves during class or leaves early shall not receive a certificate and such circumstance will be treated as a no-show and no refund will be granted.
